my first car was 94 civic hatchback si.
hahaha i wouldn't mind going back to a honda. i still like em....it'
but if i get a honda, it's gonna be a s2k or a nsx.

for 500 dollar you can build a d with oem parts that will run circles around the b series.

buy a stock D series block...build it up with OEM ( factory non aftermarket NON upgrade parts) and you'll run circles around B series? if your replacing parts with OEM parts, your not increasing horse power...your just replacing parts, right?
Where are you getting your information? I'd like to know.
how do you build a weaker motor to run circle around a stronger motor with FACTORY parts that were not meant to increase horsepower???

If anything, the D series Mini-me swap would probably be a good contender for the B18A, provided it's swapped int eh same chassis. but that's about it.

D series maxed their hp at liek ~125
B series START their HP at like ~130

you been out of the honda scene for too long. the most ever pushed out of a d series was about 250hp and that was with itb and stand off injector but on a oem build the most i seen was about 170 pnp head zc piston 99-00 y8 head gasket and well not oem but zex cams and a chip ecu depending on how good the base map is might not even need to be tuned but yea just a little over 500 you would have a single screamer.. ooh vtec is over rated. fun but over rated. the thing about the d series is that you can find them for days and there cheap. if a d blows up swap everything over to the new one..lol...

i think you were using the wrong terminology, that's why i was wondering how what you said is possible. OEM means Original Equipment Manufactuerer right? which means it came from the Honda Factory as a stock part put in a regular vehicle right? Not aftermarket.

even so..with your latest reply, it stlll doens't back up your other post coz you've added aftermarket parts.

well with stock cam you can yeld good hp but since the zex cam is made really well for the d and its cheap and work with stock valve train.. why not... and yes lets chane the subject after all this is a inroduction thread right? and ur a mod ur suppose to enforce this right.

\so anyhoo.. i agree a D series is a cheaper build. no doubt about that. I got friends puttin turbos on the those D series and they will RUN.


a while back a guy did a D series in a CRX, with a homemade turbo setup.. he was running 13.3 all day..

I am going to put an ECOTEC motor in a honda, then put 'heartbeat of AMERICA' stickers ALL OVER IT. hehe, now that I said it that actually sounds like a good idea; besides the stickers...

iam building a turbo d motor right now. could of finished it long ago but i am aiming for 11s so gotta take time and do research and home made turbo is the way iam gonna go with a t3 57 trim gonna run 25lbs for drag and 7 for the streets.

eco tec = fail. this topic is booges.. we're arguing about apples are better then oranges again.... this argument is almost dumber then the corvette and gtr comparison... since we're on dumb arguments... my d16y6 would be hella faster then an enzo.. if i put 120k into it..

this is not an argument about B and D series or which is better.

We are discussing the potential of each engine.

In case you didn't know, this topic was split off from an intro thread from a guy who was considering what swap to do.

Yes there is some comparison, but this is not a " this is better than that coz ..." comparison.

We are just bringing out the numbers regarding price, hp gain on added parts, available parts,etc. so that that guy can have more info on what he wants.

We are NOT saying THIS is better than THAT.

there are drag cars pushing 1100+ hp using those, they are capable of multiple hundreds of hp with no mods to the block. a good motor from gm with under 8 cylinders, (besides the 3.8 used in the buick Grand National) They even use them in the arial atom!

i honestly think that without aftermarket parts using only honda replacement parts the b series will perform better then the d but if you start adding afermarket parts then it can be anyones game but i think b series is cool then you can use like b16 trannies or gsr tranny or type r but with the d series there is not to man performance trannies the gears on d is too long so its not which one is better its just what you prefer
