rebuild the motor as soon as u get it.Smile

i mean, every motor eventually dies, that's a fact. Rotaries just happen to need more maintenance than others.

strict maintenance.... if something is leaking or goes wrong... FIX IT...dont lag about it (except if your not planning on driving it)

i've had my last motor in my FC for the past 7 years and 150k+ miles with no real problems.... except recently (past 2 years) it doesnt want to pass smog....

make sure you DO NOT USE synthetic oil (unless you have by-passed the stock OMP(oil metering pump) and are running pre mix through your tank...

I mix lucas with 20w50 in my block and mix marvel mystery oil with my gas with every fill up (in all of my cars, not just the rotary)... keeps things lube'd up....

also I only use shell or chevron gas... UNLESS an EMERGENCY

I wouldnt rebuild every motor..... the parts alone to complete a rebuild on a rotary engine will run you about $650-800 depending on where you get it...... than you either have to do it yourself (cheap but HARD AS HELL if you've never done it) or pay someone to do it.....(easy but EXPENSIVE AS HELL) anywhere from $1500 to $5000...

cheapest option to replace a rotary would be to get a "low mileage" motor from an importer.....

as far as gas mileage I never really pay'd attention to it..... i just know driving my n/a from here to sac or vallejo the needle would BARELY move.... and by the time I got back I used half of a quarter... (if mashing down the freeway, a quarter)

keep in mind I always drive like a grandma, keep fresh plugs/wires, check my timing monthly adn pre-mix my gas.... that might be a reason mine doesnt burn much fuel...

what do you think your is?
