Re: Its Time: Danhtao's Engine Swap Announcement
so so SO close.
it cranks!
but the fuel pump isn't engaging. and the relays are working and wired correctly, so that means that the ecu is not receiving the signal to turn on the fuel pump.
i connect my laptop tot he ecu... and low and behold.... i can't connect.
... i need to go somewhere to get the pcm confirmed that its fried.

Re: Its Time: Danhtao's Engine Swap Announcement
if it is fried..... hopefully it did not get that way from its current setup.... the last thing you want to do is buy another ecu, connect it and fry her aswell......

Re: Its Time: Danhtao's Engine Swap Announcement
the ecu power is fused coming from the stock body fuse box.
i want to run power relayed along the car to the fuel line, but i know that the relay is working, and there is power coming to power the relay, but the signal to throw the relay switch isn't there. i don't want to do extra work if its not broken.
i need to confirm that the ecu is fried. i've started checking power FROM ecu, like going to injectors and stuff, while the ignition is on, and the voltage is all over the map. the passenger side fuel rail has 12.25 volts, while the driver side is getting 1 volt. alternatior is getting 11 volts. purge solenoid isn't getting anything. no power is going to the MAF.
either i did one hell of a hack job with the harness, and i cut more than 10 pink wires by accident, or the ecu is just gone.
there has been no modification of power TO the ecu other than connecting it to fused connections from the main engine/EFI relay on the body chassis, so i doubt that is the problem.
i am getting power to the gauge cluster et al, lights work, etc.
am i missing anything else?
what else should i check?

Re: Its Time: Danhtao's Engine Swap Announcement
ok, i got the correct voltage going to the right things now. i'm going to bypass the ecu control over the fuel pump and wire it directly to ignition as previously suggested.
im still kinda puzzled as to why i can't connect the obd2 scanner tho.

Re: Its Time: Danhtao's Engine Swap Announcement
yea, 1 purple wire from the ecu, 1 engine ground, 1 chassis ground, and 1 12 volt source.
only 4 pins in gm obd2 ports

Re: Its Time: Danhtao's Engine Swap Announcement
then it's not obd2. obd2 data link connectors are mandated standard 16 pin, same connector, and within 6ft of the driver seat.

Re: Its Time: Danhtao's Engine Swap Announcement
hey jan, no UART for the serial. the 98+ GM vehicles uses a single two way bin wire to communicate with the ecu and the obd-2 programs.
found the problem, bad connections using an ebay weather-pack kit. i'm in the process of re-wiring everything
