Car camera mounts
anyone one know where to get one?
i wanna get one for autocross when it starts up and for future stupidity we do. for digital cameras though.
also so its not just one person who gets all the action it would be cool if a few of us had some lol.

Re: Car camera mounts
i had one. lost it tho.
it was a window sill mount, heavy duty suction cup, and a head rest mod.
look around online and you can find home made stuff.
club4ag had one design. i think
i bought mine at vivid racing, once upon a time when i had the GDA

Re: Car camera mounts
think it would be safe to trust a ebay camera mount?
i found a few suction type mounts but iuno if theyre trustable. i dont want my camera to come flying out the window in the middle of a run

Re: Car camera mounts
you want something that's rated for a particular strength.
when i bought mine, it has a video camera with a composite output on it so i could plug it into a video recorder's "input" so i was able to put it out on the hood, and run the sammich.

Re: Car camera mounts
or twist the ball off and put on an adapter for a bolt that'll fit the tripod fitment for the camera

Re: Car camera mounts
yea.
that's a pretty good deal for the added comfort that it won't come off unless you hit something.

Re: Car camera mounts
I use a mount I made using a long aluminum slab and bracket to hold the camera. It just mounts on the headrest. I don't get any feedback from the SCCA guys at the autox so I guess it's legit. Plus I purposely used huge bolts just to make it look heavy duty. I'm thinking of either getting or making another one that clamps onto my roof since I take off my moonroof when I run so I can get some outside onboard footage. There's this clamp style one that might work, but not sure if it'll pass because they're sometimes picky about camera mounts, especially if it's your passenger....big no no. Oh, and they usually say no to suction mounts. It's safer to ask first though just to make sure.

Re: Car camera mounts
It's inconsistent on what I've seen them allow, and I've seen a few bizzarre-ass camera mounts they let by. I do know that if it's a clamp type that mounts to a solid object then it's ok. Here's the mount I made
camera mounts here
holes go through headrest posts
It was cheap and easy to make and it does the job for me. I also use a Nissan rubber exhaust hanger wedged in between the headrest and the mount to help keep it from wobbling. I can mount it either with the camera in the middle of the seats or on the outside so I can aim the camera at me to see me driving. Adjustments to the camera are made with just reclining the seat.
