yea so I havent been on the 209 forums for a while glad to say I finaly got a job aha Very Happy anyways when Im not doing anything I pretty much just cruz around youtube alot and Ive been seeing Ls1 swaps in likeee every car I see from 240's to rx7's, even evo's. Is there any draw backs to this engine swap? pros, cons?

i dont think there are any cons.

i mean, u get twice the power with slighly more weight..but it also depends on which engine your replacing it with.

so i think the only real con is weight..

and it's about a +/- 50lbs diff i think?

and maybe gas mileage goes down...Smile

oxymoron pistons in a rx7 lol.

Its not cheating. If an ls1 or a ls6 is considered cheating then you shouldn't even be able to swap any engine because that would be considered cheating also right? The main reason why people do, do engine swaps is for more power.

So is dropping a rb26dett into a 240 "cheating" lol?

i was just stating what some of my friends call that engine, but i am the guy to convince dan of swapping the ls1 into his FC.

His 13B got 22+ mpg if it was a great day. After the swap he got about 25 mpg.

the real big difference bet the ls1 to the ls2 is the piston bore size. LS2 has a 4.00 inch bore size. This lets you utilize the new L92 heads and a LS3 intake manifold. W/ a GM hot cam swap you can see upwards of 450+hp. LSx engines are ultra simple to build power. Those l92 heads cost about 450 a piece but net you at least 75+hp.

originally dan was gonna do a LQ4 (truck 6.0L vortec) w/ the l92 heads and the ls3 manifold but ran into the how damn smog issue since that engine was never in a passenger car. ls2 would be cool but they cost 3k+.

cant yet, getting a new transmission, but new things are coming soon that will alleviate some heat issues and make it more drivable.
