another car i'm looking forward to... and potentially my future "family car"
PONTIAC G8
The G8 GT show car is essentially a Holden Commodore SS-V
sporting a new Pontiac front clip and hood. The 6.0L V8 with 362
horsepower lurking under its hood is the standard engine that will be
found in the G8 GT production car. At launch, it'll be connected to a
six-speed automatic, but if you want to row through those gears
yourself, a six-speed manual will follow shortly thereafter (all
together now...."YEAH!")

that's how we know your getting old.. the corvette is a old man's car. and the g8 is definitly a old man's car.. remind me to get you some crutches for your 50 b-day this year. j/k i'm just messing around.honestly.. i thought you would've gotten a wrx weagon for your family car... you know something for janise and just to drive when he gets older. food for thought.

i always wanted a subaru legacy gt for my future wife's car... the stability, comfort, and mid-level luxury, + the fact that its the same engine as the STi = fun times for me.

Re: Why we are here
well, i've always liked the corvette since i was a kid saving up allowances to buy the newest road&track magazines. and the zr1 was the baddest vette in the late 80s, early 90s.
as for the g8, being based on the holden commodore that races in the Australian Super Touring Car series, and the same platform the Vauxhall VXR8 that Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear lauded for the "fun factor", just seems like a suitable "fun family car" that is basically the budget version of the bmw m5 that is my ultimate 4 door saloon.

trunk space is key to a great family car.. hence the wrx wangon. not to mention its boxter motor turbo, all wheel drive and you can probably find on for less then 13.k in great condition.

Re: Why we are here
not really planning on getting one soon, but i do find myself looking at motorcycles every now and then. here's a few that's caught my eye...
HARLEY-DAVIDSON NIGHT ROD
the bike sounds like it was born to be bad... and the only stock bike i've seen with a 240mm rear tire.
http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/Content/Pages/2008_Motorcycles/2008_Motorcycles.jsp?locale=en_US&swfsection=family&swffamily=vr
DUCATI SPORT CLASSICS
ducati sportbike performance in uber-cool retro style
DUCATI 848
finally, ducati's super sexy modern superbike design of the 1098 in a less expensive package

while looking for greatest lists... i found discovery channel's greatest sports cars list.
Sports Cars
Question: what’s the odd one out in this list?
Sports cars, vodka Martini, beautiful women, stamp collecting, James
Bond. You’re right if you say that alcohol and cars just don’t mix. But
the subject of this edition of The Greatest Ever is really for people
with something of a sophisticated lifestyle. Our experts have sought out ten vehicles that define the term
‘sports car’. They outdo each with extravagent design, speed and price,
but say you didn’t have to worry about the latter, which car would you
choose to take for a spin on a Sunday afternoon?

K O 7 & 8
greasem0nkey86 wrote:http://www.roadandtrack.com/article.asp?section_id=15&article_id=6564The lightweight k.o 7 and k.o 8 sports cars are the brainchild of Ken Okuyama, the former chief designer for Pininfarina, among whose credits include the Ferrari Enzo. Striking out on his own, he is seeking to re-create Spartan sports cars similar to Colin Chapman's famed Lotus 7.
These 2-passenger cars feature a mid-mounted 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine producing 250 bhp. The k.o 7 Spider is intended as a track machine and features cycle-style fenders. The fenders and the center portion of the body are rendered in carbon fiber while the side panels are of polished aluminum. The Spider measures 141 in. in overall length, 72.8 in. wide and just 43.3 in. tall.
The k.o 8 is a coupe, featuring traditional fenders enclosing the wheels and a removable targa top, is a pure electric vehicle. Powered by lithium-ion batteries, the k.o 8 has a range of about 100 miles and is powered by a 100kW three-phase electric motor. Both vehicles will be built in limited numbers in Japan for worldwide export.
