Re: Timing Is Off
use a timing light. maybe 5 degrees beyond factory if you want to use premium fuel. and don't forget to unplug whatever it is you have to unplug first!

Re: Timing Is Off
Adjusting the timing on your 240sx
Fully warm up the engine. Shut engine off. Disconnect the TPS harness connector. It's located on the passenger's side of the engine just above the throttle assembly.
Attach timing light. Start engine and set timing to 20 degrees BTDC. Check the idle speed. It should read 650 RPM; If not, adjust the idle screw until you get 650 RPM. The idle screw is located on the passenger's side of the engine near the firewall below the intake manifold. Stop the engine. Reconnect the TPS harness connector. Start engine. The idle speed should now be 700 RPM.
That's all there's to it.

GREAT INFO!
add this tho(ive had customers FAIL smog do to this and i set it for'em)
do as stated(warm car to op temps)
THEN
set idle between 700-800rpm
.39 to .5volt on tps voltage(use volt meter ) not needed to do this but lower the voltage less fuel better passing do to leaner setting this way NOT neede but helpful for smog
then DO as stated from NICO post
Re: Timing Is Off

Re: Timing Is Off
check the firing order, check the static timing (cams in relation to crank) but yeah, why won't it start at all?

Re: Timing Is Off
i dnt know why exactly to be honest. it all started when i changed my spark plug wires n from that day it just got worse. i know i put on the wires right because i just went from how the old ones were. but then i changed my plugs, rotor, wires again and cap. i was told it might be my fuel injectors n then i was told it was the fuel injector harness... im totaly lost
