HOOD STRUTS
http://www.the510realm.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-5490-start-30.html
They are 90 pound gas struts. We get them from:
www.mcmaster.com
but I don't know if you have anything like that in AU. That is where I got all of my hardware. Here are the part numbers:
9416k144 x2 (Gas spring with threaded ends 1.97" stroke length, 90lb force, M6 male thread same as 9416k14)
9416k74 x4 (10mm steel ball socket for M6 thread das spring with threaded ends)
9512k73 x4 (ball mounting hardware steel, 10mm ball stud with 5/16'-18 male thread)
You will also need some flat semi thick washers for where you drill the hole in the body for the ball stud put washers on both sides. feed the ball stud through them and reach in with two fingers and slide on the lock washer and the nut. Then get a set of 90 degree angle needle nose to hold the nut on the inside of the hole and then tighten down the ball stud. It will all press together to form a strong anchor. Then just measure the swing of the hood hinge and drill a hole in that and mount the other ball stud. Lastly, snap the shocks on and viola! you have hood struts for $30.80 USD! Plus shipping...It helps to mount an old hing and drill that first so you know where to drill your good hinge. That way you can use old hinge as a template...
So I guess, thank Kevin Neely for this one Smile
