Re: Need a job in the Stockton Area
^^^ nah i'll have to pass on that, im trying to get into a business firm where I can get some experience. I guess this is a wrong forum to be asking, hence its 209 and the majority of you are still in your teens... I guess i'll just wait untill I get out to the bay to get my feet wet

Re: Need a job in the Stockton Area
ehh, correction.
the average age of the ACTIVE forum member is closer to the mid to late 20s.
there is a sizeable chunk of people here with kids, careers, and established lives.
you need more details, but in general, the job market sucks at the moment.
if you want to get into a business firm...
what industry? what type of business? what is your experience? got a decent resume?
we got some well connected people on the forum, but we can't help you too much unless you can give us some details.
what are your interests? small business? marketing? international firms? biotech? politics?
want to work at genetech? or maybe nancy pelosi's office in SF?

Re: Need a job in the Stockton Area
wow..... buddy i'm older then you.. i have my own shop and even live on my own, snap i even have my own kid. that was a pretty lowbrawl remark, anywho. this is more or less a automotive base forums for the 209 area and beyond, i mean be more specific you'll never know who's out there watching.

that's not the kind of attitude you want to carry around when you're the one asking for help. assumptions are the mother of all fuckups, especially when you don't know where you are or what you're getting in to.
now, back to the topic at hand. not sure what kind of business firm you're looking for. but i'm a bit wary of recommending people i don't know. are you looking for a cushy office job or more of a grease monkey type? you never specified what kind of job you were looking for and jon was just trying to help.

Yea, you definitely need to pay more attention when making bold remarks like that. If you look to the right no ones age is hiding and most of the people here are in their mid/late 20's... And like everyone else said, need more details of what work expesily if your not willing to take a job at the mall or mic d's....

Re: Need a job in the Stockton Area
My apology for the previous comment I've posted. That was bold and dumb on my behalf to base the average age of the entire forum simply off one reply. As for experience, I don't have too much experience on the business side. (Just plain old gen. labor, customer service, and office assisting) I am only 21 and spent most of my time in school. I'm looking to get into the financial side of business once I graduate, maybe investments or become a financial advisor etc. It's hard to land a position today with very few experience, so I guess I'll have to find a place to intern. Any recommendations?

Re: Need a job in the Stockton Area
financial interests?
not quite the time to get into that...
i know some people that went from like.. insurance to finances,
so maybe getting a part-time job somewhere with an insurance firm will help.
that, or get into somekind of marketing that deals with multiple account management.
for financial interests, like with an investing firm, try thinking of what kind of job you WANT, and what that job requires.
from there, gather experience with jobs that that'll help you acquire the job that you want.
internships are teh ideal way to do it, but without that, look for other ways to satisfy the experience needed for what you want to do.
