yeah the sidewalls do have a limit to how much they can be stressed. some do it for functional purposes as bobby indicated and others do it for looks - "check out my stretched 185's on my 10" yo!!"

oh yeah, it's a lowrider thing too

almost no sidewall flex, so cornering is a little bit improved, looks dope, and helps you fit nice rim sizes on your car. i don't really see any cons about it

No that is not the case, being that you really have no sidewall you have savvier tire roll and no corner grip...

wo0oho0o good for drifting... less tire on the payment + torgue = smoke. it's like riding on all four spares. not somthing i would recomend for everyday. unless you have 20 batteries in the back with 4 hydrolic pumps pushing your shit. chuloooooooooo!!!!!!

another look vs function, application of drift vs grip thingy..

ultimately, its personal preference, because of the change of the safety of the tire characteristics.

just like the ol' weld diff discussion.

stretching the tire is ok to a certain extent. i run 195s on 8 in wide wheels and they look way stretched for me. i prefer straight up and down, looks cleaner and the tire gets a more square contact patch. stretching also does one more thing to the tire, it creates a rounded profile on the tire. so you don't exactly get 100% tire contact to the ground at all times. also a side effect of negative camber btw... that's why i need FENDER FLARES!!!

I'm gonna need some new tires..anyone know where I can get some good and cheap ones? haha. I know good and cheap don't really mix, but yet. Or at least what brand I should get that isn't too much.

onlinetires.com is a good site for low prices. that's where i got my set of gforce sports for less than $350 (205/55r16). Or I know a place in Lodi that sells new and used tires for cheap. David's tire & wheel on cherokee lane. I've bought 2 good tires + mount and balance for $60. They got a big ass selection. he also sells some packages too, mostly bling though. Just ask them what you're looking for (size, type, price, etc.)

like everyone said stretching is for looking cool haha. sidewall flex is reduced too, but if you're running something like neovas you shouldn't need to stretch. good for wheel fitment, you can tuck tires and still have the wheel flush. and it's cheaper if you run smaller tires.

oh and it looks cool.

also it looks cool. haha.
