piston ring question?
ok so since i am in the process of swaping in new bearings and rings i was wondering what would happen if i didnt gap my rings, i just put them in and now iam thinking what would happen. should i pull them back out and gap them to spec. what would happen if the rings wernt gapped at all?

Re: piston ring question?
I've seen really bad cylinder wear and blowby problems. Usually only a worst case senario. But most rings only need a couple thousandths shaved to close up right, if at all.

Re: piston ring question?
why didn't you check the spec clearance first before trying to put that in there? do you really want to build a boat anchor?

Re: piston ring question?
if piston rings are not gapped that might cause oil to float above ur pistons where they shouldn't b and make sure u stagger them

Re: piston ring question?
piston rings should be gap just like spark plugs should be but the thing is how much of a gap???? the stock brand new sleeves are certain spec but then again.. a worn sleeve should be taken into considerations. i'm not sure of spec's when everytime me and ron do it, we just eye ball it. a warn sleeve should have different diameter then a brand new one right? give ron a call.^^
