New to the board: JDM Speedworx
Hey, everyone just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Greg from JDM Speedworx in Salida. Most of you in the 209 have probably heard of the shop. Anyway, I've been signed up on here for a couple of months, and never got around to posting. Since I'm a newb around here, I figured this would be the perfect forum for my first post.
Those of you not familiar with JDM Speedworx, we are a Japan Domestic Market retail shop. We pride ourselves in rare and authentic JDM parts for all Japanese makes. We also have our own line of HID kits. If you need a RHD vehicle, we can help you with that as well.
Anywho, you should be seeing more of me here in the forums. I'm looking forward to chatting with all of you soon!

I C... I c, yeah, Thanks but, I guess for Air Force its only allowed one car per person . I got some info on getting my car to the states, but I wanted to know is can he do the saftey and emissions compliance portion of it? I will have 1 year when i bring a car back to the states to make the car up to compliance of U.S. standards.

doesn't the car have to be sold here or an equivalent before you can register it here?

From what the Traffic management office lady told me, she said I could pretty much bring almost ANY car to the states, just once its touches american soil i have one year to get it within compliance(which cost a shit ton i hear) or they crush it.
I also found out, that a 71 Skyline could be sent to the states(TMO also) and I would have no problem at all considering its a 71 and there is no need for smog on it. But thats Hear say, and I am still debating whether or not i wanna bring that or my MR2..

Re: New to the board: JDM Speedworx
what are the compliances? airbags, smog devices, ref, difference registration? i've heard that there is regulation you have to comply with but no one ever told me what it is.

Re: New to the board: JDM Speedworx
Umm.. Compliance, they didn't give me the exact thing, they only told me i have to go to the NHTSA and contact a company that can make it within compliance. Has to be a registered importer i believe. THe lady said that to make it within compliance is like: All the glass has to be changed out because Japanese cars don't use the satter mask crap, the metal body has to re enforced because they use less layers of metal here which imo is better, you only crash if you get hit or you just suck, Of course smog complience, computer has to be modified or something like that, she said it might have to be stock, but she isn't for sure about most of these things. Thats pretty much the jist of what she had told me. If it doesn't make the standards they crush it in a year. Sinse i'm in freaking japan i never have time to call the NHSTA, but I will... not now kuz i'm doing something for work. hope this mildness helps.

Re: New to the board: JDM Speedworx
Oh yeah, Air bags like you said, on passengers side and drivers side. also registration, I think you can register it but it would be like a temp or something. I dunno... I'm still in japan and I never imported my car before.

I suppose we should let JDM speedworx do his thing. BUT!!!! I agree I was also thinking of parting everything from my car and shipping it back. but thing is, i'd have to ..."pay" the movers extra kuz technically i'm not soposed to be shipping shit like Motors. which i might try anyway!!!
