or you can use a point and shoot camera and hack it. there's a whole bunch of point and shoot cameras out there that can give you the result you're looking for.

The majority of the hacks I know of are only available to canon, But I don't doubt that there are firmware hacks for other brands.

this probably wont help you much considering you have a Sony, but to anyone who is interested.
http://chdk.wikia.com/wiki/CHDK

My personal experience with the hack, Its a bit confusing. With a dslr there are buttons and what not for specific things you need, since the point and shoot camera isn't built for that type of stuff you have to go in menus upon menus to change iso, shutter, and aperture. On the up side, its definitely a good way to gain knowledge on how to configure your settings according to the amount of light you have. It can shoot in RAW format so you can make an hdr photo with a little point and shoot camera. They're also developing hacks for DSLR's, I believe the canon 50d and xsi have a video firmware hack... so yeah

shooting with contrast.....get yourself a point and shoot. you don't really need a dslr for what you're looking for.

For $200 your looking at a point and shoot camera. Contrast is just something your gonna get with editing. If you can find a deal on a G8 or G9 canon point and shoot, thats a great camera. RAW features, big pixel count, flash hot shoe, and PSAM modes, your good to go.
