Re: Drift cars
check it out.
find out what you're looking for so you don't have to rely on somebody else for experience,
i'm sure one of the 240 forums has a check list of things to look for when looking at a used car.
look at it, turn it on, keep on looking at it, listen to it, kick the tires, take it for a test drive..
if something's funny with the car, come back, post up your questions and we'll help.

we like to encourage people to do their own homework and get their hands dirty, grow as a car guy, and in return, help the community grow as well.
a lil bit of effort goes a long way.
and its appreciated by the community when its acknowledged.

Re: Drift cars
and i like my rotaries...
kinda...
its a love-hate relationship with em...
its kinda like a high maintence, expensive, girlfriend who is just awesome in bed....
i had an 86, and while its a really good beginner's car, i didn't feel comfortable keeping it for more than a few years, the rotary beckoned me again... this time, it was dirtier tho..

Re: Drift cars
I was thinking of a miata, a rx7, aha pretty much everything. I spent the last couple weeks looking up car specs, prices, to what would fit my budget I totaly forgot about this forum so I came back to see what sup and if you guys could help me out. But yea, pretty much what came up was a 240 as a best choice for what ever comes up. Nd pretty much people told me to stay away from rotaries aha my dad had a fc, but it ended up getting totaled by my sisters. I used to be in love with that car .

Re: Drift cars
i did a fc with v8 swap, 8 grand, with purchase of car and everything needed with the swap.
i kept all of the receipts and when it was done, spent 15 minutes at applebee's adding up everything that i spent...
things are quite flexible when you boil down to it.
its just money, and where you wanna go with it.

don't be afraid of saving up more money to buy a car that you'd really want too.

i got lucky and bought my latest fc for 2 grand from some hot lil drifter chick in berkeley.

Re: Drift cars
If I dont get a good car soon I might have to wait till i get out of high school just to get the car. I mean im not in a rush to get a car, Im thankful that im even getting a car, but if I get one I want one that I can have fun with right off the bat yanno, Driving and tuning. I might end up getting my cousins beetle lol that sounds fun doing autox in that.

Re: Drift cars
^Lmao.. no homo.. but yea my budget as of now is at or around 1.5k. On the other hand my dad might buy a del sol for him self instead of helping me buy a car. Its a automatic 1994 del sol, w/ a stock d15b7 engine. Thats why I had that tranny swap thread earlier, to see if it was worth it lol.

Re: Drift cars
No Sam, wouldnt dare work on those cars. Bad enough I hand out parts.
Anyways, I work for the parts department. Im basically their only guy so it sucks for me when I get swamped. Also I'm like the "de facto" Dr Phill for the dealership. I get techs, service writers, cashiers, and sales people spilling their gripe about work, personal life, etc. I guess it's the location since my department is in the middle of the dealership. It's like the go to place to hang out. Like a bar, only Im the bartender.

Re: Drift cars
240sx would be your best choice to have fun and experiment with right off the bat as long as everything is in good running condition. Can't really do that with ae86's because they're either missing a lot of things, drifted/raced out or tampered with so much you'll be spending more time fixing it rather than driving it.

Re: Drift cars
yea any ideas on a automatic del sol what would i be able to do with it.
Im looking into taking my cousins del sol off of his hands for 500, then just holdin out till i graduate by then hopefully ive built up enough money to get a car that suits me, and plus itll give enough time to study up and take my auto shop classes.
