ff, fr, mr
-can't distinguish which is better
-the faster platform depends on the driver

except the lotus was never in the front so you can't really say much about the lotus except it was always close to both of them

Personally, I think you guys are getting it. You guys can debate on which platform is better, but you all seem to get that it really doesnt matter. When I was doing this, guys my age were in platform wars. The old mentality that it was car over most aspects and the driver was hardly metioned. But I consistently see everyone mentioning driver skill. All in all its really preference and understanding of your driving environment. We were dumb asses back then, and we still are. we were more arrogant and too proud to listen to other people.

With that nonsense talk out of the way, the real difference is the application. People can talk all they want about what they know, what platform is better, or share the same damn ideas. But, very few can actually apply their crap. When me, Road&ster and some others, used to do this, we always ran into people who can talk a pretty story or a good tech reference. But when it came to doin' it, they either had "my car's not ready," or the "I need tires," excuse. In my opinion, it's BALLS, that is required more than skill and book smarts. That's what me and the guys I ran with had. Not too good on skill, but we were crazy enough to go out there and do it. But that's just my opinion regardless of what value it holds here.

There, I licked them(balls) for you

It really depends on what your doing with the car, the money your planning to put into it, how much time your willing to spend on it, and how much research you put into it.. think about it, really, your not going to bring a 86 to a drag race against a corvette, vice versa your not going to bring a drag prepped mustang to a touge battle.

i would bring an ae86 to drag a corvette....why not? the ae86 isn't ONLY made for turns..

btw, 8.14 in teh 1/4 mile.....enjoy.

http://paradiseracing.com/Media/Magazines/RPM_2005.pdf

and i would bring a drag preped mustang to a mountain run.,

but then, that's just me...

Stop watching those videos and reading those Import Loser magazines and drive your car the way it is; FF, FR, AWD, 4WD whatever. In fact, take any intentions you have and just drive it. Apply what you think you know about car control and find out for yourself what is actually true about what you've heard or researched. You don't even have to race or drive that hard to figure some things out.

Keep driving. From my experience it's well worth it and it's cheaper at the moment, you just pay for gas. I've had my 240sx for over 6 years and all I did was get lots of seat time, especially since I used to deliver pizzas lol. I wouldn't mind driving all types of platforms because I find the learning aspect the most enjoyable part of this whole shebang

haha very true .. i never let tires stop me from going out.. i'll let my crappy tires slow me down cuzz i got balls, and my balls arent suicidal. anywho... i love to drive , only thing i hate the most is that i often take cars that are not ready, or not so0o certain that it's gonna make it back on it's own four wheels. like i wasn't sure if i should've took my ek out the last time cuzz honestly i dont think it would make it.. and anyone who drove near me notice my lights going haywire . but it was fun as hell.

yeah, dont beleive everything you read just go out and drive.. that's why we have snoozer's. just to give the ppl who dont know anything, to just go out and check it out. and it's almost the season for autox. the 99speedway is gonna open up for drifters... man go out there and drive. dont over think it..

i am leveling with you..but you didn't specify stock, modded, or otherwise?

Driving a mountain road hard and NOT crashing is a matter of skill...

and by saying that, I hope you dont mean that driving a mountain pass is the only thing that requires skill..

coz every type of motorsport requires skills...

Yeah take advantage of the available venues in the area, especially autocross. Membership is required but only costs $25 (I think) for those 25 and under (Speedfreaks annual membership). Plus, you'll get to see all drivetrains in action and experience them too if you ask to ride with them. Then again, autocross and touge can't be compared, too different. But it's still interesting to see.

Oh, and don't drift intentionally just to look cool. They'll either give you a lecture after your run or red flag you and tell you to stop and give you a DNF for that run. I didn't get yelled at for my spinout last year, they actually enjoyed it Shocked

it can be compared.

main differences would be ......

elevation changes, on comming traffic ( if u are doing it on a two way pass), and.........u could spin out and fall off a cliff:)

on another note, where do u guys usually keep ur RPMs at on a pass?
