i gotta hear it.. dont drive the car until you get a deffinite diagnose. cuzz if it's a rod knockin then it's best u fix it before you throw a rod threw the block. a bad head gasket can cause allot of shit. so0o i kinda feel like a tech day coming up .. let's rip the motor up and put her back together.

if rod knock is audible, then that's a pretty big problem.

hope its just a timing chain.

the usual payment for tech days is beer. haha. God knows how much beer was consumed during my engine swap.

so the result is exhaust leak... took a look at in class today and that is somewhat my conclusion... but im kinda bummin right now... my baby didnt pass smog today for registration.... dont even have a clue where to start with that fix...

They should give you a free re-run. Most smog shops do if you fail the first time...

they do but only if they do the diagnostic, will you get it free.... but i was kind of in a rush and just found a smog place because i really didnt think it was not gonna pass so i figure i get the smog cert and jet back to DMV... the guy who had it, smogged it not too long ago and it passed... except it has not been within the last 90 days.... but were do you guys think i should start???

maybe egr? did you warm the car up by driving it around for a bit before you went and smog??

at least you passed most of it. my car failed about half including that damn evap test when i first got it. :[

yea, high nox means engine is running hotter than normal (combustion) which the egr is supposed to regulate. check the egr make sure it still works. that's probably the easiest check so i'd start there.

yeah... if you have a friend with same motor. ask to borrow his egr valve, put it on your car and take it to a place to do a pre-test. i have a friend with a smog shop that will d0 a pre-test for about 20 bucks to see it'll pass or not.. or if it's just a little adjustment he'll do it... or.. if you just want the dam car running smoged so you can tag it. the my fees are 200 bucks. you drop off the car and all the paper work and the next day it'll be smoged and ready to be reg'd.. dont ask me how i just have the magic touch. garunteed.

there is a smog fair on sat at delta i believe, what's happends is it's a free pre-test for cars that not to sure it'll past smog, they'll diagnos the problem and then may even give up to $500 coupon. for anyone who needs help. i say you take advantage. it's in stockton though. so grab that moving permit and come on down.
